I'm Back On YouTube & A Few Changes...

As you can probably tell from the title, I'm going to be filming YouTube videos again!

I'm really excited about filming again and even more so as me and Simon will be doing a lot more videos together. It's been two years since I last filmed for YouTube and I only stopped because the Movie Maker software I had available to me at the time to edit and upload my videos (on my little net-book), was so slow and it took so long to edit and upload videos, as well as failing every now and then, that I was getting frustrated and it wasn't as enjoyable any more. That is the main reason I started my blog, as it's a lot easier to write, double check everything and then publish a blog post than it is to go through all the steps of uploading a video. I take my hat off to those that film and publish videos every day. I'm sure they all have lives as well, which is why I find that I can't film a video to upload or write a blog post to publish every single day and sometimes not every single week, it just depends on what I'm doing and whether I have anything to write or film about. I don't like to blog or film just for the sake of it.

I'm going to be re-branding my main YouTube channel a little. My main YouTube channel is Gemsi2011 and I used to just upload beauty and fashion videos to this channel. I have a second channel called GemLivesLovesLaughs and that used to be where I uploaded cooking videos and vlogs. What I want to do is just have one main channel, that covers a range of subjects, like my blog. So I want to try and still film beauty and fashion videos, but there will also be travel, life, cooking and gaming videos on my one and only channel. These are all subjects that either I or both me and Simon have a passion for and so it will be nice to introduce a few new subjects to my channel. I am going to try and change my YouTube name and URL so that you recognise my channel as Gemsi - Gem. Simon is also going to be setting up his own channel, which will mainly consist of gaming videos and his will be called Gemsi - Si. This is something we've talked about and so it'll be nice to have our own little branded channels if we can. We are currently working together on the re-branding, so bare with us on this :).

You might be wondering what is going to happen to my second channel. My main channel has the most subscribers and so more of an audience to produce videos for. My second channel doesn't have that many subscribers or videos, as I only managed to upload a few before I stopped filming. However, they are still videos that I enjoyed making and that took time to make and upload, so I don't want to just delete them. The videos on my second channel are from two and three years ago, so they are some time ago but I am going to try and download them to my laptop and upload them to my main channel as a #throwbackthursday kind of thing. I will upload them one by one, either every Thursday or every other Thursday and they will probably be uploaded randomly with the title and description edited slightly so that people are aware, as well as us when we look back, that the videos are from two and three years ago.

I will probably also try to change my Google+ name and URL to match what I've said above, but I am not yet sure whether I will be doing the same for my email, blog, Twitter and Instagram. It would be lovely for everything to have the same name and URL but I'm not sure whether it might be a bit more of a disruption to my email, blog, Twitter and Instagram as they have all been active and current and I probably have links everywhere for them, whereas it's different with my YT channel, as I haven't filmed anything for over two years and my Google+ account is quite new, so I'd just update the links for those on my email signature, blog, Twitter and Instagram and I don't feel like it would have such a detrimental effect. We will see though, I'll keep you all updated along the way on anything I do change or update, keep an eye on my Twitter as I'll probably be mentioning things on there.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! (Blackpool, July 2012)...

So, for those of you following/reading my Blackpool reviews/vlogs, I have another one for you. Another attraction me and Simon went to in Blackpool was 'Ripley's Believe It or Not!'. The only other Ripley's in the UK is in London and me and Si went to that one a few years back. It was on the off chance really, as it was really wet and we were walking around, spotted it and decided to go in. We loved it. It's full of interesting, fascinating facts and unusual items so we were excited to have a look around the one in Blackpool.

For those of you not familiar with 'Ripley's Believe It or Not!', it is basically a museum of unbelievable and fascinating facts and unusual items. Ripley is Robert Ripley, the cartoonist, explorer, reporter, adventurer, illustrator, collector and seeker of the odd and unusual facts/items that appear in all of Ripley's attractions. You can find out more about him here.

The majority of facts and items are different in the Blackpool one, compared to the London one. So you don't have to worry about it all being the same. There is one thing I remember being the same and that was the mirror where it shows you how to roll your tongue. If you carry on round the amusement you will come to a double sided mirror where you can see people sticking their tongues out and trying to roll their tongue. It's quite funny to be honest watching people, as they obviously don't know people can see them doing it, until they get around to the other mirror side and realise :-). So, when we saw that we recognised it from the London one, but that's the only thing that stood out to me as being the same.

Ripley's in Blackpool is located on the promenade, by the Pleasure Beach on Ocean Boulevard.

Whether you are travelling by road, rail or air, it is pretty easy to find. There isn't a direct link as it is on the home-page, but if you look on the right hand side of the website homepage, you will see a map/directions. If you are travelling by car, it tells you where the nearest place to park is here. We had a weekly tram/bus pass whilst we were there, so we got the tram, which took about 5-10 mins from our guest-house.

The attraction is open daily from 10am. In the Summer/in season months, it is open every day, but when it comes to the Winter/out of season months, then there is only certain days they are open. It's best to check the dates on the website, if you are thinking of booking ahead. Or contact the attraction. It's £12 for adults and £6 for children, but you can get discount vouchers and group discounts on their website and often whilst you are in Blackpool, or even before you go, you will see 2 for 1 vouchers in magazines, papers, on the back of leaflets/receipts etc. So keep your eyes peeled because who doesn't like a discount! There is a leaflet you can grab on the way in, which has the museum layout inside, so you can see where to go/where you are going etc. However, the museum leads you from room to room, so you are sure not to miss anything :-).

There aren't any refreshment areas within the museum, but this isn't something you are going to be in all day. There is a gift shop at the end, which sells memento's to remind you of your visit to the attraction and I'm sure I remember there being a cold drink fridge aswell...if you are desperate for a drink when you come out :-). There is a funny thing inside the museum, which is a fridge that says: 'Don't forget to grab your free drink'. So you open the fridge and see lots of empty drink cans and it basically laughs in your face lol. As if you get a free drink...haha!

We went to the attraction on the 9th July 2012 (ignore the date on the pictures, my camera date/time is set wrong, I must sort it! Lol). There weren't many people in there to be honest, so you could stay and look at any of the facts/items as long as you wanted, because no one was hanging around you trying to have a look. Another couple went in the same time as us and as we were going around the museum, a few other people caught up with us. So it wasn't totally empty, but it was quiet. It took us about an hour to get around the whole thing. We didn't read every single little thing though, we just read those bits of info/facts that caught our eye. Each item has a detailed explanation by it, so you aren't left wondering what something is, it is explained for you :-). It did seem to go quite quick, whilst we were in there, but time always does when you're having fun and we enjoyed it on the whole. There are two floors, 8 galleries and 10 televisions. Here are a couple of my favourite bits of the museum...

'Can you lift both legs at the same time?'. Me and Simon had some fun with this, on many shots we took, you could see our other leg/foot, but I think I mastered it in the end...just about :-).

This was a Princess Diana piece, make solely from pennies. Some of the pennies were shaded in different colours, but I thought it was amazing that you could get a picture so spot on, with just pennies! I should try it myself lol.

There is a lot of interactive parts to the museum, for example...funny mirrors, puzzles, tongue rolling and much more! We had a fab time learning about unusual items and finding out fascinating facts. Now we have been once, I can't say we would go again, because we already know what's in there. It's the same with the London one to be honest. Unless they both have a total refurb and have all new items in there. However, if you have never been to either, then I would deffo recommend taking the time to go and have a look. It's a good way to enjoy an hour or so, for not such a ridiculous price :-).

My Birthday Haul in London...

Hey Lovelies!

So, if you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen at the end of June 2011 I was ranting about me going to London for my birthday for a few days. My birthday is on the 1ST July and we went to London from the 30TH June 2011 until the 2ND July 2011.

The main reason we went to London was to see Take That at Wembley on my actual birthday-the lovely Fiance bought himself, me and my Mom tickets to go see them :-) bless! We also saw a West End show on the Thursday night-Jersey Boys, which is fantastic. Me and Simon (the Fiance) have seen it five times now! Ha....we love it!

On the Thursday when we got there we went to have a look around Camden Market and on the Friday we went shopping in Oxford Street, so I thought I would do a little haul post and share with you the things that I bought myself. As we had things booked we didn't have a LOT of time to shop, but I still found a few nice bits :-). Also, the week before we went to London I bought a few things from a Blog sale which I will also show you.

The first shop I came across and wanted to have a look in was Jane Norman. I heard that it was going into administration and to be fair I was gutted. I am a big fan of the brand and have bought a fair few bits from them over recent years. They had a sale on so I decided to go and have a nosy. The only thing I saw in there that I liked this time was some sunglasses-I needed some nice black ones. I have coloured sunglasses, which don't go with everything and I have some black ones that look a bit tacky now because they had all diamantes on the sides and half of them have fallen off, so I decided to buy some from there. After about 15 mins in a hot, stuffy shop (it was lovely weather and there were loads of people in the store due to the sale-so it was boiling in there) and asking my Mom which ones looked nicer. I decided on this pair:

They are Black Cats Eye Sunglasses and were £9, reduced from £12. They are medium tint, UV400 lenses and absorb 100% of harmful UV rays. I really like them and have been wearing them since I bought them, as the weather has been lovely lately! They are really comfortable and I love the case they came in, which will keep them protected when I am carrying them around in my bag. Overall a great buy! You can buy them here, but as the company is in administration, I am not sure how long they will be available for!

The next place I went into was TopShop. They had a sale on aswell :-). I always find with sales though, that items I like in a certain shop before a sale, are never there when the sale is on or just aren't in the sale at all. I must just leave it too late to get to the shop, because some people I know get really good bargains, but when I go I always leave feeling disappointed, probably 80% of the time lol. Oh well! Anyway the items I bought in TopShop, weren't even in the sale-typical! However, I had my eye on the top I bought for a while and as I had money to spend for my Birthday, I decided to go ahead and treat myself.

I bought this lovely coral orange scallop jersey top (this is what it said on the receipt). It was £15. I wore this for the first time a few nights back when me and Simon went out for a meal. I had it tucked into jeans with a little cardigan (it wasn't that warm, otherwise I would have worn it without the cardigan). It has the scallop edge on the straps, the front, the back and the bottom of the top. I love the shorts in the scallop hem style aswell-I have some cotton scallop hem shorts I bought from H&M (you may have seen these in one of my hauls on YouTube, you can see it here). It is really flowy aswell when not tucked into anything. You can buy it here.

I also bought some Jelly Belly Jelly Beans from TopShop aswell-random I know but they were only £1.50 and looked so nice with all the different yummy flavours, like Watermelon, Top Banana, Green Apple, Very Cherry and Lemon :-). I haven't eaten them yet as they were in the TopShop bag for this haul, but I shall be tucking into them after this post! They had a huge range of sweets and novelty items in the TopShop on Oxford Street. I don't think they sell these kinds of things in all TopShops (definitely not in the one where I live), but they do in London, just so you know :-). Here are some more pictures of me wearing the top I bought:

When we were at Camden Market, I came across this independent market stall at the inside market of Camden Lock that sold handmade soaps and bath bombs. There were loads of yummy looking ones in the shape of cupcakes, slices of cakes etc. I picked up this one:

As you can see it was beautifully wrapped and only cost £3! There was no company name on the packaging and I can't remember what it said above the market stall but if you do go to Camden Lock Market, go inside where there are plenty more stalls and you won't be able to miss it-it stands out cause it's so pretty! :-). This one smells like strawberries and cherries :-) can't wait to use it!

So onto what I bought from the Blog Sale. The sale was on a lovely girl called Charlotte's Blog and you can see her Blog here. The first thing I spotted was this gorgeous satchel bag and it was one of those things that I looked at, then carried on looking at other things in the sale, then I went back to it, then carried on, then went back to it and so on and so forth! I really really liked it so had to buy it lol. It is from Primark-but the Primark where I live must be the worst one because there are never any good things there. You know when you see other peoples Primark hauls and you see some really nice stuff, well when I go into the Primark here, it's always pants! In my opinion, Birmingham and London's Primark are the best ones-although they are always busy! Lol. Anyway, here is the little beauty:

I love this bag and Charlotte was selling it for just £5. I think they were selling it for £7 in Primark, but like I said they never have any of the good things in my Primark. Charlotte said she had only used it about three times, so I decided to go for it! My sister has also been eyeing this up, so no doubt she will be asking to borrow it soon! Lol. Unfortunately, Primark don't have an online store-but if you pop into your Local Primark you might be lucky enough to spot one of these. I know they have the bags in different colours aswell! :-).

The last thing I bought from Charlotte was the Collection 2000 Shimmer & Shade in No 3. Just Peachy. I spotted this in Boots a while ago but didn't really want to pay £4.19. I spotted it on Charlotte's Blog Sale for £1, so definitely wanted to snap it up! Mainly to use as a highlight and I love it. It was practically brand new aswell, you couldn't even tell if it had been used when I received it. I think I've used more of it trying to do swatches for this post ha! It even contains Vitamin E and Silk!

(Left to Right; Base Shade, Large Flower Shade and Small Flower Shade). They are subtle, highlight colours, so aren't really pigmented, but you should just about be able to see them. I haven't used it properly yet, as it has been in a bag waiting for me to do this haul, but I will probably include it in a make-up tutorial or look soon, so keep your eyes peeled! :-). You can buy different shades of the compact here (I can't find the exact one I have on the Boots website, but you might be able to find it if you pop into your local Boots).

The lovely Charlotte, realising it was my birthday put a lovely message in with the package thanking me for my purchases and wishing me a lovely birthday and a great time in London. I thought this was really sweet as she didn't have to do this. Bless her! Also she added some extra goodies in with the package-so sweet of her!

Unfortunately these Barry M Special Edition Lip Glosses don't have names on them, but these swatches are in the same order as the pictured glosses above. No7 Radiance Boosting Hot Cloth Cleanser vs Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish...

Hello Lovelies, I hope you are all well! :-).

I have wanted to review the No7 Radiance Boosting Hot Cloth Cleanser and the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser for a while now, so I thought it would be a good start to do this for my first proper beauty related post. You will see I have put the two cleansers against each other in the title (vs) and as you read on you will know why.

You may be surprised to hear which is my favourite of these two cleansers, but I will start at the beginning...

If you are subscribed to me on YouTube, you will see in my QVC haul here that I purchased a set from the Liz Earle range. The set consisted of a 100ml bottle of the Cleanse and Polish, a 200ml bottle of the Instant Boost Skin Tonic, 2 Muslin Cloths and a Waterproof Bag. This set cost me £25 from the QVC website, which you can buy here.

I was really excited about using this cleanser as I used to be one of those people that used 4 in 1 make-up remover wipes to get my make-up off every evening and then I used a face mask once a week for a deep cleanse. So I was looking forward to trying something new and seeing how it improved my skin. I don't have the worst skin in the world, I am lucky that I don't have acne prone skin, but there are little things that bother me like I have dry patches in places, large pores (or they seem large to me) and sometimes I feel like my skin tone is slightly uneven without make-up.

I have heard so many good reviews about this cleanser-I had seen it being sold on QVC so many times before I decided to buy it. I saw it being tried and tested by the models/testers/customers on QVC and I saw how good the results were from it. When I started making video's for YouTube I saw many reviews for the cleanser from other beauty guru's and it just seemed anywhere or everywhere that I saw or read a review it was a good one. So after all this I decided to treat myself and go ahead and buy the set, especially as it was made from naturally active ingredients which I am really big on.

When I started to use the cleanser, don't get me wrong it is extremely luxurious and feels amazing when applied. It also smells great and you feel really special using it, like you are using a really high quality product. However, overall I was quite disappointed with the cleanser, because it just didn't seem to be working for my skin. I would say I have combination; normal to dry skin and the skin on my face can be slightly sensitive but these were not the issues for my disappointment in the product. I just thought I would mention it so you know I haven't got that much of a different skin type than a lot of people out there who have used this product and loved it.

I was using this cleanser every evening to remove my make-up and following the correct method of removing all traces of make-up and then splashing my face with cold water, but after just a week (it may have been even less) I started to break out. It wasn't big massive break outs but small ones in different areas of my face and I knew this wasn't normal as I never have this problem (and I don't have the problem now I have stopped using it). I also found I was feeling breakouts underneath my skin. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't stop using the cleanser straight away because I thought well it's a new product that I am using, my skin is just getting used to it and probably just giving me a deep cleanse. This cleanser lasted about two months with a double pump of the cleanser every night (one for my face make-up and another for my eye make-up) and all the way throughout using it I had the same problem. There were no other benefits to my skin from using this to outweigh the fact that it was causing me breakouts and to be honest this wasn't something that I wanted to keep re-purchasing if it was doing this to my skin.

Bring on the No7 Radiance Boosting Hot Cloth Cleanser. I came across this cleanser by chance really just browsing the shelves in Boots, you can buy it here and for £9 I was keen to try it out and collect the points of course he, he.

I didn't have any expectations for this cleanser simply because I hadn't read any reviews on it previous to buying it, so I really didn't know what to expect. However, I liked that it was the same concept as the Liz Earle with the hot cloth (then splashing your face with cold water afterwards to close the pores) and I didn't really want to revert back to using make-up remover wipes, so I decided to give it a go...and how glad I am that I did!!

This cleanser has worked an absolute wonder. It has the same consistency as the Liz Earle, it is a thick white cream and feels really really luxurious when applied. It doesn't disintegrate when you are applying it, it really is a lovely thick, creamy product. It smells very fresh and you feel like you are in a spa when using it (only applying it yourself).

As soon as I started to use this cleanser I noticed results straight away. It made me feel really clean without my skin being tight (it felt really moisturising) and it really does do what it says on the bottle - it is extremely radiance boosting. After I use this it seems like it stimulates the blood under my skin and really makes it glow. I couldn't believe that I saw results like this after using it for the FIRST time! It is not very often that I re-purchase skin care products, simply because if I don't think that something is doing anything for my skin then I would just prefer to try something else until I find something I am completely satisfied with. I have now re-purchased my second bottle of this cleanser, even though I have a fair few pumps left in my first bottle, but with this, I just don't want to be in the situation where I run out because I love it that much!

This is my first bottle which still has quite a bit left. (I love how you can see through the bottle (with Liz Earle you can't) and how the pump is designed to reach the top when there is no product left-it's good to see that no product is being wasted).

When you start getting compliments that your skin is glowing and that your eyes sparkle (which can often be the case when using some skin products, even with makeup sometimes), then you know you have found a winner in whichever product it is you're using.

I am just so glad I came across this, as I was really really disappointed with the Liz Earle. I bought my first bottle of the No7 cleanser in the middle of April and it is now the middle of June, so I have had it for 2 months and it is still going. I have been using two pumps in the evening (one for face makeup and one for eye makeup) and then at times I have even been using it in the morning, simply because of how it uplifts your skins radiance and makes you look fresh, dewy and wide awake. It is a great base to prepare your face for makeup aswell. After using it for this long I can see long term results already - it has minimised my pores massively and it doesn't even claim to do this, so this is a big bonus. I have also noticed an improvement in my dry patches (this may be because of my new moisturiser though-review to come), they are awkward on my face as it isn't all over it is just in certain places so if I don't moisturise properly before I apply makeup, these dry patches can sometimes show up. Lastly I have seen a huge improvement in my skin tone, it is now more even and again this is something it doesn't claim to do, so I have obviously been really lucky in finding a really good product here that suits my skin perfectly.

I will definitely be purchasing this cleanser over and over again...

The great thing about this cleanser aswell is that it is such good value for money. I said that it was £9 but it is also 200ml, where as the Liz Earle I got was 100ml (on the Liz Earle website this is £11.75), so I got more for less but definitely not less in quality.

You might be worried that the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish is made from naturally active ingredients and thinking: what is in the No7 cleanser? Well the product packaging makes a point of saying that the cleanser is hypo-allergenic (which means the product is relatively unlikely to cause an allergic reaction) and has been created using only ingredients they know and trust. It also says that the cleanser has been tried and tested by customers with even the most sensitive skin, so you know it will be good for yours. I for one can vouch for that as an individual with sensitive facial skin.

You can of course buy different sizes of the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and you can find these here. Just in case you want to compare prices as I did purchase a set rather than just the Cleanse and Polish on it's own. However, the No7 Radiance Boosting cleanser is still cheaper at £9 and in my eyes better because it has worked better for my skin.

I really wanted to do this post because of how impressed I was with the No7 cleanser and how much I love it. Also, I thought it would be good to give you guys a little heads up about it, because as I said I only came across it whilst browsing the shelves in Boots, so some of you may know about it but some of you may not. If you feel like you have the same kind of skin as me from what I have said (and please feel free to ask me any questions) then I would really recommend this product. It has worked wonders for me and if you are looking for a cleanser or would like to try a cleanser then this is the one I would go for. You get value for money aswell as quality - like a spa facial in the comfort of your own home!

A New Beginning...

Hi lovelies!

I hope you are all well?! :-).

Well I have been wanting to start a blog for a while now - something I can do alongside my YouTube channel. So here I am...:-).

Most of you have probably arrived here through knowing me on YouTube. If you are new to me then this is the perfect time to let you know that I originally started filming beauty/fashion videos for YouTube and I now want to start a blog to go alongside that.

I love getting to know people and especially if they enjoy watching/reading my reviews, opinions, tips, tutorials, looks, hauls etc... I hope you all enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy reading all of yours. If you haven't yet started a YouTube channel or a blog - I would recommend starting one if you have a specific hobby or interest that you would like to share, aswell as get feedback/comments on and meet new people. I can assure you there are a lot more nice people on the social sphere than there are haters. I have spoken to a lot of people through my YouTube channel who are wary about the haters and it holds them back mainly because of this reason. I feel it's a shame and I always try to encourage where I can.

So I thought I would start off my blog by just writing a few random but true facts about me and the things I love just to start off light-heartedly before all the reviews, opinions, tips, hauls, ootd's (outfit of the day's), notd's (nails of the day's), fotd's (face of the days), tutorials, looks and all that jazz starts! :-).

If you have any requests for me on my blog feel free to comment or leave me a message as I am yet to decide how to differentiate my blog from my YouTube, so that people have something to come here for and it not just be the same as what's on my YouTube channel.

 I love to shop...I am not out of control or anything but I do love it!

 I love travelling - experiencing new things, new places and new people. Me and my Fiance have been to many places in our lives together and it has been an amazing experience so far...(can't wait to do more...hopefully).

 I have 2 babies...guinea pigs! He he. I adore them, they are so cute with their own little personalities and I love how they recognise my voice, squeak when I bring them their favourite food, snuggle into me when I give them a cuddle...so so cute!

 I went to university from 04-07 and studied Business Management. I graduated with a 2:1.

 I was learning to drive whilst I was at university-failed every practise theory I did and passed when I first did it for real. I felt confident for the driving test and failed when it came to doing it...twice!! Gutted! Not good...think it kind of knocked my confidence after the 2nd failed test because after uni I couldn't afford to carry on till I got a job. Then when I did I just never got around to carrying on...need to sort it! I get so nervous though.

 My best friends are...my mom and my Fiance!

 I worry a lot...I even worry about other people's worries, because I feel bad for them. I do try not to, but it must just be built into me. It does my head in though!

 I often wish I could go back to being a child for a week...just because life was easier then. I didn't get stressed, didn't worry, didn't have to think about having money, paying bills...yep easier! Ha-ha. I also wouldn't change a thing about my life now though (apart from winning the lottery), growing up has made me the person I am today and a very nice person if I may say so myself! Lol...with the best Fiance, family and friends.

 When I was young I wanted to be an air hostess when I grew up lol.

 I would love to live in America.

 I love cocktails!

 I LOVE cooking. I did cooking (or food technology as it was called at school) all the way through school but even now I love it. I always cook from scratch though. I am not a person to get a boxed food item out the freezer. I like to know what's in my food at the best of times, it's bad enough craving a McDonald's and trying not to think about what's actually in there! I love to cook for my Fiance/family and experimenting with different things.

 My Mom told me before I was born she was going to call me Alexandrina if I were a girl. I ended up being called Gemma...guess Dad didn't like it :-/ ha.
